A Summer to Remember

This summer was a very busy one, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. My days have been spent with my favourite people doing all my favourite things. Of course, a lot of that time has been spent at my second home, Menagerie, prepping it for all of you to enjoy come rain or shine.

Those who know me, will know that I suffered with meningitis earlier on in the year and this summer I’ve taken the time to recover and build my strength. But that hasn’t stopped me doing all the things I love.

One of my favourite things about summer and something that has helped me in my recovery is travelling – seeing new places, but also revisiting those that hold so many memories. This year so far has been a mixture of travelling for celebrations and also a few work trips too. One holiday I’ll never forget is Barbados, where two of my good friends tied the knot in May. It truly was paradise and perfect for my first summer break.

Of course, there’s still work to be done and I’m always looking at what will set us apart from our competitors, so recently I went to France to visit the Whispering Angel vineyard to see how our most popular Rose is made. Of course, I couldn’t go to to France without visiting La Villa Romana Saint-Tropez, the original home of what we now call vibrant dining. They just don’t do it like that anywhere else, and of course I gave them a helping hand.

Summer is always a busy time in Manchester – the city is bursting at the seams with events and celebrations, so I was very busy planning Menagerie’s calendar. I’ve got to say, my favourite event to plan this season was our Pride Rainbow Brunch – I feel so proud to be a Mancunian and one of my favourite weekends of the year has got to be Pride. Read my Pride blog here.

I couldn’t mention my favourite Menagerie Moments of the season without mentioning the week where Justin Timberlake, Tyson Fury and Kevin Hart all visited. That has got to be one of my favourite moments over the past two years, and ones I’ll never forget. Read all about it here.

For the rest of the year, I plan on spending it exactly how I have been so far – being around the people who mean the most, making memories that will last forever and continuing to build my business.
